Family Lifestyle: The Copes

This family has much going on in their lives, and are living far away from their families.  They had the idea to create this video to give as gifts to family and to keep as a journal for all the fun and important things in their day-to-day.

This is a longer than usual film at around 11 mins, but I just couldn't  didn't want to cut it down any more.  With three active kids, dad in medical school, and mom a Barre instructor and super-mom it took time to capture enough to show what their lives are like at this point and place in time.

Soccer games, dance, 1st birthdays, medical school, Barre class, piano practice, bed-time routines, family park time, and more…

Holiday Video Cards + Lifestyle

This idea could be applied to any occasion! All of these happen to have kids in them-- who LOVE to watch themselves.  Everyone below said their kids watched it over and over and over.  They may be the biggest fans of this video style.

Each family chose the activities, interview questions, and music.  It was used to send by email and social media to family and friends as their Christmas Card for the year.

Family Lifestyle: The Bensons

This film features the Benson family: Taylor, Teigan, Beckham, and Logan.  A few words from the family:

"Now we have these funny things he [Beck] says documented."
"The kids watch it every day.  They really do."
"Can I watch my movie?"
"Beck laughs at himself and thinks he is so funny and now quotes himself."
"This is something we will treasure."
"It's a little glimpse of what we do everyday."
"The scenes of Teigan and Logan in his room before nap time just captures exactly how it really is."

I really love these lifestyle videos.  I also love the Bensons.  You probably will to after watching this! Needless to say, this was a fun project for me.  I've included a few words on this idea of lifestyle and interview videos:

LifeStyle
Preserve this moment in your families' life with a customized video that chronicles the activities of a normal day in your home. The video will showcase each family member's interests and create a "moving color memory" of your life. Let me help you create a family keepsake or unique and personal gifts for family members. Post online for a fun way to share a glimpse of simple, everyday happenings with your friends and family, or even create DVDs to give as gifts.

Interview
"What's the silliest thing your have ever done?" Do you know how your children would answer? How about grandma or Uncle Joe? Video interviews are a terrific way to capture memories and individual personalities of family members. They allow great-grandpa's wisdom to benefit family members for generations to come. Professional sound recording and editing, combined with your favorite music creates a gift families will treasure.

The first is a more condensed and precise version of a few favorite family activites, candid moments, and 4-year-old Beck's musings and interview answers.

This second video contains double the scenes.

Quotes, music, and activities were all personally chosen by the Benson family to convey and capture their lives.

$199 (Introductory rate) - 4-5 min edited video with link to share and download.
$249 (Introductory rate) - 7-8 min edited video with link to share and downlad.

* If you have something different in mind, let's talk!  There are many ways to create what you are looking for.

Kelsey & John Michael

Granted I've not spent much time in Brownfield, TX, but I would have never imagined it had such a beautiful wedding venue as the one where Kelsey and John Michael were hitched.  This lovely couple, tons of family and friends, natural outdoor beauty, perfect handmade decorations, no rain and all shine made for a beautiful night.  I don't think I've met a more gracious couple than Kelsey and John Michael.  Here is a recap of their night:

Ryan Marie & Tom's Wedding Day

It is always fun for me to be so involved in one of my close friend's weddings.  I get to see it all.  My camera becomes my VIP pass to everything going on during the day, letting me experience their wedding on a whole new level.

If you watch this video, you'll notice Ryan's glitter high heels with the words "I DO" written underneath.  You will also notice the natural, rustic, simple beauty of their outdoor winery setting and in details of wedding decor.  While Ryan was getting ready to walk down that aisle and marry her sweetheart, she asked me if I'd seen her shoes and what I thought.

"They're great! They are so you."
"I know... As I was planning the wedding I noticed these differences... There is this one side of me that loves the rustic outdoorsy things in life, but... I also just love glitter."

The talented make-up and hair artists of Jordan Winn & Co. commented "So, you're a sparkly hippy!"

I felt this exchanged summarizes the ambiance of Ryan & Tom's wedding really well.

These two lovely people had a perfect start to their marriage.  Congrats, friends.

My baby is One

I made this little video so that we will remember what it was like with our sweet little one year old Liam.  He happened to be teething the week I filmed him, and was a little more grumpy than usual, but I still feel it's a fair representation of our day-today.  I love to do these kind of projects, and hope it is something he will enjoy having when he is older.... He sure enjoys watching it now!

Birthdays are fun... especially when a bunch of your family and friends pitch in to make a special suprise video for the birthday girl.  This is a compilation of photo and video (some even from her 18th birthday) to wish Teigan a happy happy birthday.

Mary & Ryan Burr

The Jones family is full of beautiful women, and Mary is no exception. I love this family, I loved being here, and it was a honor to be included in their day of love.

August 19th is a special wedding day in my family, as it belongs to my own parents, my grandparents, and also my dad's brothers. Now Ryan & Mary :)

Congratulations!!

Side Note: As I am learning this process, it's so nice to have friendly and talented photographers to work along side- especially because we are together, shoulder to shoulder, ALL DAY! I was able to work with Jessica Kettle and Jessica White, who were great, and undoubtedly did an amazing job. Check them out, especially Utah area peeps.

This wedding was in Salt Lake City, UT.

I love my designer, Tosha Seeholzer, and the custom DVD creations she does for the final creation:

Nicole & Ryan's California Dance Party...

These Taylors & Barlows know how to keep a party rockin. I LOVE when there is never a shortage of dance moves to film. These two are very much in love, and if you don't believe me... just watch the re-cap.

Congrats Nikki and Ryan! It really was an honor to be there. Dance on.

Kim & David: Destination Bahamas

I feel so lucky to have been invited to this wedding... in NASSAU, BAHAMAS! I love to see the world, and this was a blast to go and be with friends from highschool. Kim (the bride) is beautiful and they are a popular couple. So many people flew in for them and it really was an awesome wedding. Their photographer Ben Jaimeson, now a local, was a real pleasure to work with. As I am learning this whole business and process, it is so nice to have professionals encourage and support me.

Anyways, wanna see their highlites?? Here they are, Mr. & Mrs. Conner. Congrats guys!

More to come, I just couldn't resist sharing a few shots from Kim & David's Bahamas wedding...! So, enjoy just a taste...

the Unveiling

My Wednesday went something like this:

1. "Husband, no you can't leave the house today until you sign for it!"
2. Call at noon telling me "it's here!"
3. Get home from work, change into comfy clothes, and then:

4. Stop for a quick photoshoot with the bubbly-wrap (Naturally.)

5.

6.

7.

8. Plotting my next shots

:)

Finally...

I did it. Finally, I made a decision and a commitment that feels GIANT for me. I have been thinking about, asking about, researching about cameras for over a year now. I'll be honest here, I can struggle with decisions. The larger they are, the more risk involved= the greater the inner turmoil. I just don't want to make the "Wrong" choice.

When it comes to camera's and all the specifics of professional video and equipment, I really am quite lost. Oh wow, does it feel overwhelming. I know what I want to create, and see these final projects in my head... but, how do I make them so other people can see? So I asked and asked and asked, and with out a real mentor to really get into this with, I received quite an extensive variety of opinions.

So, what was my response to this? To.......Keep....Waiting.....and....Agonizing...... and..... Waiting.....

Oh, the wisdom of my dear mother and Goethe. A few months ago I recieved suprise mail from Tokyo that was this:

Which has stared me down from my cork board near everyday since, telling me exactly what I need to do. Ready for some more motivation? 'Cause it's comin: {Thanks to miss Amy for posting these for me just in time}

So, today I "Began it".... and here is what that looks like:

Is this where I say something like, "One big step for
Purdy Birdy, one giant leap for Tia"?

3 days from now these bad boys will be sitting on my door step! Looks like video just became a little more permanent passion of mine. {FIST PUMP}

Video Cards

My best friends {Porter & Michelle} are two completely fun people. We wanted to play around with a video Christmas card- save on postage and trees, right? As a disclaimer- we had nothing pre-planned, little time, no idea what was going to be available in this little ski town, and no music to coordinate with :) But still, the Foulgers are cute enough to look at no matter what.

Merry Christmas!

Gift Ideas, Part One: Video Grams!

p.s. This is just a portion of the complete video to show a brief example. We asked her all sorts of questions, and got some great answers. This is my Grandma-in -law, Mary. Questions were submitted by many of her grandkids. A brief highlight reel was shown at the family Christmas party, and all of Mary's kids were given a gift-wrapped copy of the entire production. Oh, and it was all a SUPRISE for them!

"Holiday E-Cards"... Coming Soon....

Casey and Jason Wedding Day Highlites

August 20th was a perfect day for a wedding in Logan, UT. Everything looked beautiful, and seemed to fit these two perfectly, down to the fair style dutch oven scones and cowboy/cowgirl bride and groom boots. Thanks for letting me be apart of it!

songs: "Long Trip Alone" by Dierks Bentley and "I've Just Seen a Face" an Across the Universe cover

Here are the invitations done by Tosha Seeholzer, which are some of my most favorite I've ever seen:

County Fair

"'aint nothin I know of, can make you fall in love like a night at the county fair!" agreed. This song and location seemed to fit these two very well. How can you not feel giddy with all of the rides, sounds, smells, tastes.... mmm. And it doesn't hurt that Casey {the bride} is a true beauty with "green eyes and golden hair" just like the song says.

We played this county fair lovin' at the end of their "growing-up" slideshow movie during their wedding day luncheon and reception. See what fun pre-wedding day footage can be?

I was very excited to get to work next to Lindsey of Lindsey Hale Photography. Love her pictures and she is a good friend. Here are just a few:

Her blog will have more pictures coming soon: Lindsey Hale Photography.

Taking the Plunge

Tosha and I realized how long we can NOT hold our breath. Shocker. A lot harder than we expected, but our lovelies (Sean and Bryn) wanted something waterific, so we did our best. "Next time"... that is what we keep saying, because now we have lots of ideas for next time. Love these two and their unique style. Tosha took the stills and also created their announcement. She does my personal favorite design work, more examples from her to come. For now, check out this Birds of a Feather production:

I tried to get a few still shots out of the video, but they all turned out kinda fuzzy because the movement was so fast. Here is one that works with the fuzziness:
